While it is rather easy to introduce Saving Money Ideas for a family, it is a tad difficult task to encourage the singles- Saving Money Ideas for men and women. The difficulty arises primarily on account of the fact that they are single, so saving money ideas for singles, as a concept does not have a priority for them in their scheme of things. They hold the view that as they are single and they do not have any liabilities there is no encouragement or inducement to imbibe the Saving Money Ideas for singles.

It is precisely for this reason that Saving Money Ideas for singles has a particular relevance for them, as when the cupid would strike and they would decide to jump the alter, and on impulse would like to decorate the house, lack of savings would impede in realizing their blissful married life.

As in most of the cases both would be earning, the first primary requirement would be a roof over the head. To have the roof, money is required, and if both of them have some savings of their own in their account, they would be able to conveniently make cash down payment and would be able to keep the monthly EMIs under control. For this primary reason Saving Money Ideas for singles has great relevance.

Saving money ideas for singles is more so required in as they have impetuosity and tendency to splurge in shopping and dinning out. This is an avoidable expenditure and it can be curbed when the details are provided to them about the immediate expenditures that they are incurring and the savings that they may have if they are able to curb the tendency to splurge. Saving money ideas for singles is based on the fundamental premise of discouraging the tendency to splurge. A logical fallout of the tendency to splurge, among other Saving Money Ideas for singles is to curb the tendency of stepping into the super markets even for buying a needle and to become a local market convert.

Another of the Saving Money Ideas for singles is to get over the fixation of hankering for the branded items. The branded items, more so in the case of consumable products is much more expensive than the local brand, and if a switch over is made, apart from the financial saving, you would also be able to contribute to the cause of the environment as well, by reducing the carbon foot print.

Planning is one of the best ways for a person to save money. From grocery shopping and seeing a movie to buying a car and taking a vacation, a person should plan just about everything that involves them spending money. When a person takes the time to plan how much money they need and why before they actually spend the money they are less likely to spend extra money and can end up saving money too.

Here are a few examples of how a person can plan so that they can save money. When a person is doing their grocery shopping for the week or month, they should first see what items they have in their house already. Many people end up purchasing items over and over again because they do not know what they already have. A person should also make a list of the meals they are going to have so they know what food they need to purchase. And if they want to save even more money, they can try to first plan meal around the food items they already have in the house.

Another great example of planning before making a purchase is planning before buying a car. A person should take the time to research how much they can afford to spend on a car, what they need the car for, etc. A person can end up spending too much money on a car if they do not do any research.

And everyone should have a monthly spending plan in place so they know how they are spending their money. Most people, without a budget, will end up spending money on extra things without even realizing it.

Buy quality

Sometimes it can save people money if they spend more initially. For example, if a person were to buy better quality shoes that cost but end up lasting them several years, they are better off than buying shoes that have to be replaced every five or six months. The same can be applied to clothing items that a person intends to use a lot and that need to be kept in good shape. Spending more on a suit or a nice coat that will last for several years might be a better option than purchasing a new, inexpensive suit or coat each year.

A person should be careful, however, when buying more expensive items. It is not a good idea for a person to purchase an expensive item that they hope to use for several years if it is not a more classic style. Styles that are more extravagant and trendy will go out of style quicker than any classic style of clothing or shoes and the person will likely feel pressure to purchase a new item instead of continue to wear clothes or shoes that are “out.” If they do this, they end up saving no money at all and would have been better off purchasing the less expensive item in the first place.

Shop sales

A person should stock up on food items that they use often when they are on sale. This is a great way for them to get things cheaper and it is nice to have them on hand. The same goes for clothing, shoes, etc. A great way for a person to save money is to buy things at the end of the season. For example, they can purchase their summer clothes for next year at the end of the summer and save a lot of money. Once again, as long as the style is pretty classic it will likely not go out of style for several years-if it ever does.

Also, when shopping at sales, a person should be careful not to overdo it. They should not purchase things in bulk that they do not use very often. And they should not buy a second shirt if they don’t need it; even if it is two for . They will not be saving money at the sale, only spending more money than they had originally planned to in the first place.

Shop around and compare

Shopping at more than one place and comparing prices is a great way for a person to save money. This can be true for anything from electronics and clothing, to insurance and mortgage loan interest rates. When a person takes the time to do a little research-made much easier by the internet-they can save a lot of money on just about everything they buy.

However, to travel green one does not have to do without luxury or inversely to spend a lot of money. It simply means doing your part to preserve the ecology of the place(s) you visit. In fact, green travel can save you money at the same time. We have provided the following list of 30 ways to save money through green tourism, while at the same time doing your part to “save the planet”.

Packing and Planning

1. Pack light, especially when flying. It not only saves on extra baggage fees, but less baggage equals less weight equals less fuel

2. Print maps and tourist information before you go. Better yet, borrow a guidebook from the local library and save a tree.

3. Purchase empty travel bottles and fill them with your favorite shampoo and other products. By reusing them on multiple trips you save money and keep dozens of travel size bottles from local landfills.

4. Bring your own digital camera instead of purchasing an expensive disposable camera that can only be used once before being dumped in a landfill.

5. Consider purchasing a solar charger as most cameras, cell phones and iPods can be quickly and easily recharged this way.

6. Consider traveling closer to home this year to avoid flying. Flying is getting more expensive every day and uses a tremendous amount of fuel and contributes a lot of pollution to the air.

7. Combine work and play. If you have to fly somewhere on business plan your personal vacation before or after so you won’t have to fly twice.

Transportation

8. Whenever possible get around town using public transportation.

9. Take short trips by walking or using a bicycle.

10. If you have to rent a car get a small one, or better yet rent a hybrid. Many car rental companies are now offering hybrid vehicles. Sure they might cost a little bit more to rent, but typically you save on fuel prices.

11. If taking your own automobile, take some or all of the following steps to increase your fuel efficiency and save on gas costs while reducing emissions. Have a tune-up before you leave, make sure your tires are properly inflated and reduce the number of unnecessary items you might have stored in the back seat or in your trunk. Turn off the air conditioner whenever possible. Reduce any drag on your car by removing roof racks and driving with your windows closed.

12. Carpool whenever one is available. Carpooling is not just for work anymore!

During Your Trip

13. Eat locally produced food. It is a lot healthier and less expensive and it saves on all the shipping costs and emissions from transporting them across the country.

14. Buy locally produced souvenirs. Handicrafts made by locals are not only sustainable but they are often a fraction of the price of items shipped in from out of town.

15. Visit local, state and national parks and reserves. The costs are usually very reasonable and the fees are used to support these protected areas.

16. Bring your own reusable water bottle instead of filling up landfills with old ones. If the tap water is not safe to drink at your destination, purchase a gallon size or larger of water and use it to refill your smaller bottle. It saves you money buying in bulk and saves the environment from billions of water bottles.

Accommodation

17. Stay with family and friends whenever possible. Hotels use a lot more energy and resources than homes through daily cleaning, mini bottles of shampoo, hallway lights constantly lit. Whenever you do stay in hotels remember to turn off the lights and TV, turn the A/C down whenever you leave, and when an option reuse the towels and sheets instead of changing them daily.

18. Look into a home exchange whenever you can. This type of tourism not only saves you money over an expensive hotel, but you can more easily practice green living while away from home.

Unlike what many people believe it is really not necessary to give up all the luxuries that you enjoy in life to be in a position to start saving money. In fact all you need to do is begin making a few minor adjustments to your current spending habits and you will begin to see that it is not hard at all to save money. Just by taking advantage of a few money saving tips you can begin to put together a nice nest egg without having to completely give up living the type of life that you enjoy.

The major roadblock that so many people run into when they want to begin saving money is the debt that they have already accumulated over the years and have yet to pay off. There are many college students that are carrying one if not more credit cards with unfortunately sucks them into the vicious circle of debt at a much too early age. The great news is that it is very possible to get out of this situation debt free with very strict spending and saving habits. One thing that you should remember if you are currently carrying debt and want to begin saving money is that you should not be putting every single extra cent that you have toward paying off your debt. You should also focus on starting to build emergency savings so that you will be able to maintain your debt free status once you have paid off all of your outstanding debts. So if you are putting all of your extra cash toward paying off existing bills there will be no money available to be able to handle surprise expenses such as car repairs or medical bills. This makes it quite easy to see that in order to begin saving money you need to focus on not only paying off debt but also stating to put money away in a savings account.

Starting to save money can be accomplished in a variety of ways. For example you can determine a comfortable amount out of each of your checks to put aside into savings each pay period. You could also invest some money into a safe fund. Putting unneeded spending in check can also go a long way into developing healthy financial habits. If you have a habit of impulse shopping, frequent withdrawals from your bank accounts and no real long term investment plans it will really put a wrench in any plans that you might have to save any money. Investments in things like life insurance plans and mutual funds are a great way to begin creating a solid financial future for yourself. Many times you can automate payments so that the money you plan to invest is not spent elsewhere.

People’s awareness of needing to save money has increased dramatically over the past several years. This is why there are more and more sources available that are offering money saving tips, the internet and financial advisors are two great resources to utilize once you are ready to seriously begin saving money.

using the tips below can allow you to customize our recipes to save even more money…

coupons! using coupons at the checkout can save hundreds in the long run. also, you do not have to pay .50 for the washington post every sunday. use the coupons tab on the sidebar of our website for free. it has hundreds of coupons that can help you save! if you need to run to the store for some yogurt, go online and print out a yogurt coupon! you should be able to save at least .00 at every trip to the store even if it is a quick trip. always keep an eye out for generic brands. sometimes they are cheaper than national brands with the coupon.

plan your meals. write down every meal you plan to prepare for the week. list those items and other items you may need for the week only. when you go to the store, buy only what is on your list. however, be sure to buy enough so that you will not have to make another trip to the store until the following week. making additional trips to the supermarket within the week will slowly take a toll on your budget. also, we all know not to shop on a empty stomach, right?

outsmart your kids! taking the kids to the supermarket can be dangerous in more ways than one. some kids have limited patience when it comes to grocery shopping. with their anxiety to get out of the cart and go home to watch spongebob, you may feel rushed and miss out on deals. also, having them begging for snacks and toys while you are shopping, can add up at the checkout.

go vegetarian. avoid eating meat/seafood every night. preparing salads, vegetable casseroles, soups/stews, frittata’s, etc. is a great alternative to meals that contain meat. a typical family of four can save about .00 per meal or .00 per week or about 0 a year by going vegetarian several times a week.

wait and buy meat when it’s in the ‘reduced’ section. some stores cut meat prices drastically when the ‘sell by’ date is that day or one day away. sometimes you can buy those meats for less than half the sale price. stock up and freeze!

make your own marinades, sauces, salad dressings and rubs. most bottles of marinades are about .00 a bottle. making those same marinades yourself can cost way under a .00. not only does it save money but you can control the quality of ingredients.

use slow cookers. slow cookers use just 100 watts of electricity, which means that if you use it once a week for eight hours at a time, it’ll only cost you about .20 a month in electricity! also, you can use inexpensive cuts of meat, and the crockpot will works its magic and make it extremely tender. do i have to mention it saves time as well? set it and forget it!

consider using chicken bouillon sometimes instead of chicken stock.bouillon is a clear liquid made from chicken, vegetables, spices and water. i used chicken stock ALL THE TIME! i found that i was spending a lot of money on chicken stock. a typical 14 ounce can (about 2 cups) of stock is about .29 (via peapod). a jar of chicken bouillon is .19 (via peapod), for 25 cubes. given that each cube makes 1 cup, i am getting 25 cups of chicken stock for .19! unfortunately, they can have a high sodium content, and sometimes contain MSG. i look for reduced sodium and no msg jars.

consider sometimes using canola oil instead of olive oil. olive oil has proven health benefits and is good for you. however, canola oil is a great oil as well. it is significantly cheaper than olive oil, possesses the beneficial omega-3′s and is very low in saturated fat.

save your bread! some grocery stores sell bread close to expiration for 10-50 cents less. if you have a freezer, stock up. buy loaves of garlic bread, baguettes, rolls etc. on almost every shopping trip and stash them in your freezer. also, don’t toss your day old bread. it makes great breadcrumbs and is good in bread pudding and french toast!

stay clear of buying pre-chopped foods. in today’s busy society, it is very tempting to buy items that save us time! unfortunately, in most cases it comes with a price tag. studies show that buying pre-packaged items are 50 to 75% more expensive. we are paying for the handling, washing, transportation, refrigeration, and packaging of those items. pre-shredded cheeses fall in the same boat. buying a block of cheese and grating it yourself is usually much cheaper than buying pre-shredded cheese. rarely, the price of pre-packaged/shredded items can be the same as items you can cut/shred yourself. in those cases, hook it up!

consider using canned tomatoes vs fresh. buying fresh tomatoes in the supermarket can be costly. there is always a sale on canned tomatoes that you can stock up on and always a generic brand that offers a great price. if you have a garden, nevermind! i use a lot of fresh tomatoes in my dishes since i have a garden (read more about saving money on ‘planting a garden’ below!). if you prefer fresh tomatoes rather than canned, using your local farmers market will probably beat out your supermarket prices.

plant a garden. you will be surprised how much money you can save from having a garden! a investment of buying the plants and seeds can save you at least 0 a year depending on what you plant. this year was our first garden. we planted tomatoes, zucchini, jalapenos, okra and bell peppers – things i use all the time in my meals. we constantly had fresh produce to use and rarely had to buy veggies at the supermarket! i could not believe how much produce i could get out of a .90 packet of seeds!

i know a lot of these tips require time. whenever i have a few minutes on saturday, i make the sauces and pre-chop my veggies for my upcoming planned meals to make it easier for my busy week. i may also spend time chopping extra veggies, labeling the freezer bag – ’1/2 cup carrots’ - and putting it in the freezer. that way, if i need 1/2 cup of carrots, i can take it out of the freezer and toss it in whatever i am making. also, sometimes if i am making a casserole, i take the time to make another one. tossing an extra casserole in the freezer makes it easy to thaw and bake on the days i don’t feel like cooking!

When you are in your 30s and 40s, then this becomes a minor concern. But mid 40s and early part of your 50s can make you anxious about your prospects of saving money for your future.

The world is not a perfect place so there is every chance that quite a lot of things might happen outside your plan. One of the simplistic but working idea is to save 10% of your life’s earnings. If you have earned around 1.5 million dollars in your whole life, then the saving would be near about 1,50,000 dollars. That is a good amount to save for your retirement. You can then invest a part of the amount in stocks and insurance plans, which can give you further benefits in your life.

Personal finance and financial security is all about spending money wisely and of course not spending all the money at once. There are phases in life when you are having a bit of surplus and at times feeling the crunch. The chapters can be simplified into four times.

- The surplus of money at the time when you do not have any child.

- The deficit during upbringing and education of your children.

- After the child birth the income surplus.

- The money obtained at the time of retirement.

When you start your earning life, the expenses are low; you can cover all your expenses with the money you are getting. Moreover you are having surplus to spend. Use the money astutely, and put it into any investments or keep it as savings. People often make the mistake of thinking that the excess will go to added consumption.

This is one important period of your life; mistakes made here can prove decisive for your coming life. At least 50% of your disposable income should be kept in savings or in investments such as stocks. Put the 10% of your net income into savings for any large expenditure in future, and additional 5% -10% should be put into any taxable savings.

When children come into a family the expenses rise threefold. The bedroom needs to be sized up from 1 to 4 or else there will be not enough space for all of the members. So, the mortgage factor enters. There will be necessary additions like education, food, dresses, health and medicine, dental sittings, clubs and library, and camps. Going by the usual norms, the average cost of single child raising to his 18 is about 0,000.

There is a sudden expense drop when the child moves to college and he lives an independent life. This is the time to seek professional financial help. This is the period, which gives you another chance to save money. Professional advice can tell you exactly how much you need to save for your future retirement plans.

You need to possess adequate wealth and indulge in professional asset allocation and organization. You will have to understand and calculate what rate is safe for withdrawals. This will lead to income from various sources like savings, investments, pensions and benefits, which will cover those retirement expenses.

Nowadays fares are really high for everything as the gas prices are getting extremely high. In this period of high inflation saving money from any possible way is the desire of everybody. You can save a lot on travel. Just need to focus on certain things such as try walking for small journeys, walk with your children to their schools if their school is at the walking distance instead of taking them by bus or cab. This will not only save you money, but also a small walk is a good physical activity and also more time to spend with your children.

Similarly, if you own a car and want to save money on your fuel costs, you can do this too. Remember, the petrol sold on motorways or in-out-of-the-way places is in many cases more expensive than the petrol sold in towns and cities. Do a little research and try to find out a supplier that sells cheaper petrol. You can fill up your car there whenever you can. Besides this, there are some big garages that give incentives in the form of loyalty cards with points. These can be very useful for you. You have to be little careful here that some garages charge you more in order to give you these incentives. Avoid such garages.

Another way to save money on fuel is to keep your car well maintained. A well maintained car cost you less fuel and eventually lowers your spending on the fuel. For those who use their car to go to office, it is better to join a car share scheme. This can also save you a lot of money. If there is no such scheme in your area, you can start it with your colleagues. In this way you all can take benefit from it by saving individual costs.

If you are the one who use buses or trains for transportation, it is better to look for good deals. For instance, you can buy a monthly season ticket that can save you a lot. Instead of travelling on the peak-hours, prefer travelling at off-peak hours.

Another way to save money on travel is to invest in a bicycle. If your travelling distance is less, buying a bicycle is really a great investment. Instead of spending on buses or train fares, bicycle will help you to save that money.

There is no need to spend on a new bicycle. You can search online and can purchase from an auction instead. Purchasing online will cost you less money and also your bicycle will save a lot for you in the long run.

These are the few ways through which you can save a lot of money on travel. Options are always there, the only need is to explore them. Take some time to figure out things and plan accordingly.

Teaching a child to save cash instead of being frivolous with it is an important life skill. Indeed, the kids taught to be frugal and saving while very young grow up to have a lot more to depend on. Follow these tips to help children save money.

Help children learn about saving by helping them yo make their own piggy bank. You can do this in a number of ways and out of most anything in the house. By doing so, you will be able to show them how a little cash here and there adds up quickly. Once bank is full, take them shopping with their savings.

Taking your kid along with you to the bank is another way to show them about saving. Let him or her go with you as many times as possible and talk them through the steps you are taking while there and explain why you are doing them. These trips will not only be great fun for a child, but a life learning experience as well.

While at the bank, you could also open a checking account for your little one. Letting he or she get in on the paperwork involved and explaining what the account is all about is how to allow them more knowledge and understanding about the reasons you are opening it in the first place. Be sure to let a child see the money in your hand as you deposit it and later one, draw some out to sow them it is still there plus more.

Setting monetary goals will allow a kid to see the point in saving his or her pennies and dollars. One example would be that shiny new toy they want so badly at the toy store. Take a trip to the toy store to see the toy they are going to need to save up for. Once the money is saved, that trip to buy it will a lesson in life.

Whenever possible, allow your child to pay for your purchases. Let them hand over the cash and receive the change from it. Doing this over and over while also adding and subtracting amounts will show them the value of money in a few ways. This helps to also give your child a sense of independence that can be gotten in no other way.
